GLASS HOUSE
‍‍
A challenging site located on the River Tyne running along the Quayside in Newcastle with the potential for a waterfront residential complex.

This 9 unit townhouse scheme maximises views of the river whilst creating a sheltered private courtyard to the development.  The vertical townhouse response offers top floor balcony views of the cityscape and deep filtration of light into the plans.

The proposal knits into the necklace parkway along the riverfront and provides the waterfront facing units with direct water access.

The material response to the proposal is a delicately wrapped timber envelope with punctured framed views in the gable ends to focus the views out towards the water. The depth of these punctures creates amenity space, in particular on the top level which allows for the expression of the pitched roof form.
