A compact development within Tunbridge Wells containing 8 apartments, 1 office space and 3 mews houses.
Key design responses included navigating the steep slope of the site to create a split level development. The site section highlighted a clear spatial demarcation to locate the mews housing, which naturally reflected the wider streetscene.
The apartment and office block which sat towards the front of the site, facing the main road, was designed to be minimal in form and sculpted to respond to the neighbourhood. The upper level set backs create pleasant south facing terrace spaces whilst the north facing facade has a clear urban grid structure. The simple palette consists of solid light grey flush pointed bricks and thin black steel ‘light’ balustrading, to create a simple elegant contrast.
